Speed Stacks Education Team sponsors & presents at National PE conference

The end of April means it’s time for the largest physical education conference in the U.S., and Speed Stacks, Inc. was there for the seventh year running.

More than 6,000 educators gathered in Salt Lake City, Utah, for the American Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) national conference titled “Visions for our Future—Reflections of our Past.”

Speed Stacks and sport stacking once again had a strong presence at this national event with daily presentations and workshops by the Speed Stacks Education Team.

“The enthusiasm for sport stacking as a credible and beneficial addition to physical education classes continues to grow at an amazing rate,” said Bob Fox, Speed Stacks President and Founder.

Innovations in P.E. help kids, schools keep moving forward...

Can competing in sport stacking — one of "these bright ideas" — make students want to get moving? Absolutely.

"Kids are really into how to use technology and be active with technology," said Becky Hull, kinesiology department chairman at Anderson University in Indiana. "Some students are not into competition or sports; they get involved because they have this (technological) tool."

Health educators say it is more important than ever to have effective teaching tools to reach all students in physical education classes.

"It's brain training." Even getting up and moving around in the classroom re-energizes students for learning. Problems with obesity often begin in childhood. Physical activity needs to be instilled in the young in order to develop lifelong fitness habits.
Hooking students is the key.

The convention showcased the latest in fitness innovations, including more than 250 product and service providers and health organizations.

"There are so many more innovations in P.E. and it's gotten so diversified over the years — the way we teach it now is more to the masses . . . everything form yoga to dance, team sports and individual sports," said Chip Cook, P.E. specialist. "If you can get a spark in these kids in anything that will keep them physically active, we can help fight the obesity epidemic."
