The RCC selects the StackMat™ and Tournament Display as the official timing device at their World Competition in Toronto.

Rubik, inventor of the Rubik's Cube was born on July 13th, 1944 in Hungary.

Rubik said he got the idea for the "Cube" in 1974 and began industrial production in 1977.

25 years later, in 2003, the Cube was paired with the StackMat as the timing device.

    100 competitors from over 20 countries participated using the Speed Stacks StackMats at the 2003 World Championships.    
   

 

    
   

The World Competition for Rubiks was held on August 23-24 in Toronto at the Ontario Science Centre. Over 100 top speedcubers from 20 countries participated in the competitive event amid widespread international media attention.

For the first time, the Speed Stacks' StackMat™ was the official timing mechanism for tournament play.

The Rubiks Championship Committee states, "Using the StackMat™ and Tournament Display added complete fairness of the start and finish."
